Nature and Tradition
There is an extraordinary wealth of marine ecosystems in the waters surrounding Misool Island. In the midst of this, the Matbat indigenous people have maintained the harmony between nature and tradition. The majority of these people are fishermen who has carried out their traditions to this day.
From Sea to Market: What are the Challenges?
Despite their natural wealth, the Matbat indigenous people are mostly living in poverty and are yet to enter the wider seafood marketplace. This poses a challenge in establishing a connection between the indigenous fishermen and the wider seafood marketplace in order to raise their quality of life.
